Do consumers trust AI? Maybe?

Do they trust companies to use AI? A bit if you’re a tech company, barely at all if you’re not.

  • An average of 40% of U.S. consumers said they trust OpenAI, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Samsung and Amazon to use AI, according to a Lippincott survey. (Highest: OpenAI 59%, lowest: Amazon 30%!)
  • When asked the same question about six non-tech companies, only 19.5% answered yes. (Highest: T-Mobile 28%, lowest: Olive Garden 13%)
  • 51% mostly trust companies to use AI ethically, according to Salesforce.
  • 60% said AI is hurting brands’ trustworthiness (Salesforce).
  • 72% said they trust brands less now than a year ago (Salesforce).

What does this all mean? I’ll let you know as soon as Gemini stops laughing and gives me an answer.
